I will be off to the Cambridge Union Chamber on Saturday to hear a debate on the topic: “This house believes that we are living through a new 1930s.”

The accompanying poster for the debate has a picture of Adolph Hitler at one of his mass rallies.

Leading writers, academics and politicians will debate for and against the motion while assessing what lessons one should draw from the rise of autocrats, nationalism and economic protectionism.
