Almi Tankers has become one of the first Greek shipping companies to publicly adopt a social media policy for its employees, warning them they could be sacked if they violate it.

“The Internet never forgets and your digital footprint can serve as a source for journalists,” said the company in a posting on its website last week.

“While Almi recognises that social media increases opportunities for communication, it can also pose a threat to company reputation,” the statement added.
