When Kathleen Haines joined Genco Shipping & Trading’s board of directors last week, the shipping veteran joined a small club — she is among a minority of women who hold a board seat at a shipowner or operator.
Her election also took the New York bulker owner out of a larger club: until she joined, it had been one of many companies in this industry without a single woman on its governance board.
