An MT Maritime-operated chemical tanker has rescued 10 people from a sinking vessel off Yemen in what the company describes as a valiant effort by its ship's master and crew.

The crew of the 13,100-dwt MTM Tortola (built 2016) responded to the incident after receiving a distress call while transiting the Arabian Sea earlier this month.

According to an internal safety newsletter by Connecticut-headquartered MTM, the ship arrived just in time to see the 6,760-dwt products tanker Rama 2 (built 1989) capsize as crew members jumped into the water.
