Spot rates for medium-range (MR) tankers in the Atlantic Basin fell this week as Texas coast refineries bounced back from Hurricane Harvey sooner than expected.

The surge in the spot markets reflected fears about prolonged gasoline shortages in the Americas and tight ship supply in Europe.

But those fears now appear overblown as ample gasoline cargoes head to the Americas and refineries restart.
