Ireland has embarked on a marketing campaign to attract shipping companies from, among others, Greece to set up shop in Dublin when it installs competitive tonnage-tax breaks.

An Irish team recently described the new incentives to a gathering in Piraeus.

Jim Healy of the Dublin office of tax-advisors KPMG says Ireland is targeting shipping companies after having successfully attracted a swathe of multinationals such as Microsoft, IBM, Pepsi, Siemens and Black & Decker to establish operations in the country.
