Two crewmembers on the 2,073-teu boxship MSC Nicole (built 1989) have been arrested in the US port of Jacksonville on suspicion of trying to smuggle heroin into the country.
Reports says US Customs officers found a total of 15 pounds of the illegal drug during a search of the ship. The heroin had an estimated street value of $775,000.
The search was carried out at the Jacksonville Port Authority docks at Talleyrand and the bulk of the contraband was found to have been sewn into two pairs of shorts and one pair of shoes.
