Six months after losing its highly regarded analyst team, bulge-bracket bank JP Morgan has yet to formally re-establish research coverage of the shipping industry.
The bank took a hit in March, when New York-based equity analyst Jonathan Chappell and longtime associate Darren Hicks left to bolster the fast-growing shipping team at investment bank Evercore Partners in Manhattan. The analysts have since initiated shipping coverage there in what Chappell described as “much more of an entrepreneurial role”.
