Maersk Sealand has chartered all eight of Hamburg-based NSC Schiffahrts (NSC)'s 2,800-teu newbuildings after taking up options to fix the last three ships due in 2009.
The Danish carrier has taken the ships on five-year charters said to be at rates in the low $20,000 per day. The first five were fixed several months ago when charter rates were higher than they are today.
