Growing demand for medium-sized gas tankers should provide a substantial
boost in revenues for their owners.
TradeWinds understands the 33,000-cbm tanker Sombeke (built 1990),
controlled by Exmar of Belgium, has been fixed by Geogas of Switzerland
in a deal that equals a rate of USD 43,000 per day, or USD 1.29m per
month.
Some sources say the vessel has been fixed for a spot trip from the US
Gulf to the Mediterranean, while others suggest a 60- to 90-day period
charter.
