A charterer and agent are out of pocket after a leaking and listing general cargoship barely managed to limp through the Panama Canal before its heavy list worsened and it was abandoned with a cargo of hot-rolled steel on board.
Charterer Stemcor and port agent Norton Lilly both appear to have suffered losses in the case of the 6,000-dwt Vectra (built 1982).
