Pateras family-controlled Aegeus Shipping of Greece has ended a seven-year sale-and-purchase (S&P) hiatus with a move on a modern bulker.

The owner has emerged as the buyer of the 53,000-dwt Delmar (built 2006), paying a reported $29.8m earlier this month to compatriot seller Meadway Shipping. It has since been renamed Marine Stars.

The purchase could signal further growth for Aegeus, which sold its fleet of small 1970s-built general cargoships in 2000 but re-entered shipping in 2003 with the purchase of the 43,900-dwt United Stars (built 1995).
