Indian feeder-services player Caravel Logistics is delaying plans to acquire a 1,200 teu boxship as it waits for the market to improve and the country’s coastal-shiping policy to be clarified.

Saju Chacko, managing director of the Chennai-based operator, is hoping the government will address such issues as lack of cargo support and current soaring bunker prices, which would increase the competitiveness of coastal shipping over rail and road transport alternatives.
