Tsavliris Salvage is seeking compensation for being dropped in favour of Greek rival Five Oceans Salvage Consultants in an operation to extinguish a fire on the suezmax tanker Brillante Virtuosoafter a suspected pirate attack.
Tsavliris is alleging it was initially appointed by the ship’s manager, Central Mare, under a Lloyd’s Open Form of Salvage Agreement 2011 (LOF) to tackle the blaze, then believed to have been started by weapons fire in a pirate attack while anchored in Aden.
