Sasebo Heavy Industries seems to be enjoying a mini-boom from the Greek market, with up to five new orders.

Vergottis, a famous Greek shipping name, has ordered two fuel-efficient, 79,000-dwt panamax bulkers for a base price of $30m, each for delivery in 2013. However, the actual cost is more like $31m per unit when counting the price of eco-friendly options.

Eftsathios Kallitsis, managing director of Vergottis’s Piraeus company, Fundador Compania Naviera, was not willing to comment on the reports but it is believed that the contracts are very close to being signed.
