The three container carriers currently deploy 305 vessels across the three main trade lanes in which they aim to co-operate from the second half of 2014, when they plan to use just 255 ships, according to analysts Drewry and Alphaliner.

The P3 lines say the smaller number of ships will provide the same container capacity of 2.6 million teu that they now deploy, but across 29 services instead of a current 42 loops calculated by Drewry.
