The vessel, which is not due for special survey until 2018, has secured $9.2m, sources say. The company bought the Mitsui-built vessel as Energy Trade in November 2010 for $25m.

In May, the Chinese owner sold the 151,000-dwt bulker Glory Fujian (built 1991) for demolition, with other vintage units likely to follow suit.

In 2011, the owner bought two former capesize combination carriers (OBOs) from John Fredriksen’s Frontline for $12m to $13m each.
