A sector once dominated by Northern European owners is gaining an increasingly Mediterranean face as Greek companies pump up the orderbook.
The move by Greek owners into container shipping began in earnest in 2010, with a number of parties picking up bargains in the secondhand market that were easily converted into asset plays.
Since then, the Greeks have displayed more confidence and have progressed into the newbuilding market, with recent developments indicating a shift towards ever-larger ships.
