Container lines are often responsible for loading containers with the wrong weight information, because they are ignoring updated instructions about the actual weights recorded as boxes are stuffed, claims the European Shippers’ Council (ESC).
A survey by the ESC revealed that 78% of respondents believe the correct weights contained in shipping instructions sent after boxes are stuffed are then disregarded by carriers.
