Hamburg Sud is netting in excess of $162m from the sale of a half-a- dozen panamax-sized boxships to German and US partners.
The 3,630-teu Bahia, Bahia Blanca, Bahia Castillo, Bahia Grande, Bahia Laura and Bahia Negra (all built 2007) are being sold for around $27m each to US financier Oaktree Capital and partner Rickmers.
The deal includes a time charter back to Hamburg Sud for three years at $20,000 per day, or around $131m over the period, according to broking sources.
