Western Bulk is sitting on 33,000 optional days in its chartered-in fleet, an asset that executives say will translate into juicy margins if predictions of a looming dry bulk upturn prove true.

The extension options in the company’s massive Western Bulk Chartering (WB Chartering) division are booked at attractively low charter rates on a mix of short-term and long-term contracts, company management told US investors.
