Oslo-listed Odfjell is primed to enter the market for midsize LPG carriers.

The company made a comeback in the gas market in 2012 by buying two small LPG/ethylene carriers, as well as ordering four similar 17,000-cbm ships — with two options — at Sinopacific Nantong in October last year.

Now the chemical-tanker owner, which exited the LPG market in the late 1980s, has set its sights on bigger gas ships, with the 35,000-cbm Berlian Ekuator (built 2004) about to be fixed from Japan’s NYK Line for one year with an option for a second year, TradeWinds is told.
