As TradeWinds reported last week, the Chinese Ministry of Transport issued new regulations calling for rapid upgrading of berths and for an end to what it called the “irrational contradiction” of restricted port capacity.
Among other details of the new rules, even large ships that must be lightered can be allowed to berth — but only at terminals with a capacity of 250,000 tonnes or less.
