Robert Yuksel Yildirim is plotting a $500m move into the big-bulker sector to support investments in his expanding business empire.
The Turkish entrepreneur plans to order 10 newcastlemaxes to carry coal from his newly acquired mines in Colombia to his power stations in Turkey.
He expects to go in search of orders for vessels over 200,000 dwt after he wraps up the acquisition in the next quarter of three South American coal mines from Eike Batista’s EBX Group.
