Clarksons has quoted a nine-digit VLCC resale price for the first time in two-and-a-half years after Peter Georgiopoulos gobbled up seven vessels from Scorpio Tankers last week.
The latest issue of Clarksons’ Shipping Intelligence Weekly prices a VLCC resale at $100m, a rise from $98m seven days earlier and a 17% increase in the past three months.
TradeWinds broke news of Georgiopoulos’s $105m-per-ship swoop last Friday, hours before New York-listed Scorpio announced the sale — on which it recorded a $50m profit.
