Heung-A had the 34,000-dwt Eleni (built 2010) arrested last week following a Gujarat High Court order. It is owned by Eleni Maritime.
The Heung-A Dragon caught fire after colliding with the Eleni last November and eventually sank. According to court documents, Heung-A is claiming nearly $44m from Eleni, including wreck removal, container recovery/storage costs and cargo-disposal expenses.
Heung-A claims the accident was due to negligence by the Eleni’s master and crew.
