Jack Buono, chief executive of the US oil major’s Houston-based SeaRiver Maritime tanker division, says some staff will remain in the Leatherhead offices near London but the Asian city proved an “excellent” location for IMT’s vetting team.
“When we look at the future of bringing talent into that organisation, we find that the shipping environment in Asia Pacific is growing exponentially and so we find that to be a pretty friendly environment,” he said on the sidelines of the Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA)’s Shipping 2014 conference.
