Charter rates for post-panamax boxships are showing signs of bottoming out after eight months of decline.

Fixtures by United Arab Shipping Co (UASC), Maersk Line and CMA CGM are providing hope of a revival for the larger boxship sector.

Technomar’s 6,572-teu Agios Dimitrios (built 2011) and Synergy Marine’s 6,350-teu Hamburg (built 2009) have both been taken by UASC for 12 months at around $15,000 per day, say brokers.
