Containerships dominated the demolition scene this week with a number being sold at firm prices.
Greek owner Lomar Shipping is said to have sold the 2,227-teu Athens Trader (built 1995) to India for $495 per ldt or $5.4m.
The price is based on an “as is” sale in Jebel Ali with 120 tons of bunkers onboard.
Lomar bought the ship for $35m in 2006 as MSC Belem but that deal had a time charter attached.
