The China Shipowners’ Association (CSOA) denies reports it has teamed up with its counterpart in South Korea to stop the mammoth P3 liner alliance.

Secretary-general Zhang Shouguo and other sources at the Beijing-based lobbying group disclaim any outreach to the Korea Shipowners’ Association (KSA), and a KSA executive also denies a tie-up.

But both lobbying organisations say their members have concerns.

Recent regulatory approval by the US Federal Maritime Commissioner (FMC) has been interpreted as a key victory for the all-European P3 but a Chinese green light is crucial.
