Lines are tending towards short-term fixtures in the absence of any certainty over whether regulators in Asia will approve the alliance, say brokers.

The latest sign of that was given by Maersk Line, which has picked up a quartet of 6,500-teu vessels on flexible charters.

The Danish carrier has taken the 6,500-teu DS Kingdom (built 2001) and three sisters for periods of two to six months at $13,300 per day.
