Senior officials at Dhaka-based Ananda Shipyards & Slipways say it plans to establish a 900,000-teu terminal near Narayanganj.
It will spend around $25m on the first phase of the project, with the port able to handle boxships of up to 2,000 teu and reefers. The final bill is likely to run to $100m.
The officials add that the first phase of the construction is expected to begin later this year.
