Brokers in India have linked the sale to Indonesian players who have been looking to acquire tonnage of similar vintage.
Sources say the sale is in line with GE’s recent strategy of shedding older tonnage and adding newer ships to its fleet.
In April last year, GE sold the 105,000-dwt Jag Leela (built 1999) to Indonesian outfit Waruna Nusa Sentana for $10.6m.
