The company is said to have paid $47m for the DSME-built, 320,000-dwt Younara Glory (built 2004), which is owned by a KG (limited partnership) company managed by Dr Peters in Germany.

Prices in the sector are firming. The tanker was reported sold in February to Sinokor Merchant Marine of South Korea for $46m.

Navios, which has a fleet of 11 VLCCs, bought the 298,000-dwt Venture Spirit (built 2003) from Hong Kong owner Wah Kwong last month.
