John Fredriksen’s Golar LNG plans to ink contracts within the next few weeks that will initiate the speculative conversion of one of the company’s laid-up, 1970s-built LNG carriers.

Speaking in a results briefing, Golar chief executive Doug Arnell said the company will sign an engineering procurement and construction contract with Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard for the conversion to an FLNG of its 126,227-cbm Hilli (built 1975) within this quarter.
