A US reefer charterer is waging an arbitration battle in London against Del Monte Fresh Produce’s Network Shipping arm after journeys to carry frozen fish repeatedly floundered.
Seattle-based Alaska Reefer Management has also asked a federal judge in New York to seize $3.29m in Network Shipping assets in a filing that describes a succession of mechanical failures and other problems on the Florida owner’s 428,000-cbf Marbella Carrier and Murcia Carrier (both built 1996).
