Laskaridis, the Greek name synonymous with reefer shipping, has in recent times taken a huge jump into the dry bulk sector.

Investments well in excess of $1bn mean the shipowner now has 16 bulkers in the water and 20 vessels on order.

Along with four kamsarmaxs and 10 ultramaxes, the group’s orderbook includes six 208,000-dwt newcastlemaxes, four being built at Hyundai Heavy Industries, with deliveries due to start this year, and two due out of Taizhou Catic Kouan in 2016.
