The period market for capesize bulkers continues to be fairly active compared to the smaller segments, which have dried up.

French player Louis Dreyfus & Cie has been busy, taking at least two large bulkers. It is linked with Golden Ocean Group’s 172,000-dwt Channel Navigator (built 1997) for three months to five months at $20,000 per day.

The ship has been operating spot lately after finishing a charter to Shagang at $32,000 per day.
