Viking Supply Ships has beat some market expectations on day rates by a whopping $40,000 per day, after landing a harsh-environment charter for one of its icebreaking anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels at just over $100,000 per day.
The Denmark-headquartered offshore shipping company — which has strong ties to Norway via its own founding in 1974 and its majority owner Kistefos — says its 18,300-bhp ice-breaker AHTS Tor Viking II (built 2000) is going to work for 11 months firm, with two optional six-month periods.
