If there is one certainty in today’s uncertain shipping environment, it is that we need more competent personnel at sea and ashore than ever before. And the situation is getting worse. Any percentage drop in these young people coming forward to pursue a career at sea, no matter how small, will have massive knock-on effects for the future pool of available talent.
