The head of Taiwan’s Eastern Media International Corp (EMIC) says he expects the company to get out of shipping after all current long-term charters expire.
But TradeWinds understands that the approximately 30 shipping employees of the former Far Eastern Silo & Shipping Corp are not scurrying to find new jobs.
The diversified listed company has a long history of getting out of shipping, and observers inside and outside say its management’s attitude could change if markets turn around.
