The Indian Register of Shipping (IR Class) is contesting its ranking under the influential port-state control (PSC) statistics as it seeks to develop its business as an international class society.
The recently announced Paris MOU annual figures awarded IR Class 14th position in its PSC performance table. The figures are calculated on a three-year rolling basis.
But the Mumbai-based society believes it merits a higher ranking as none of its 26 ship inspections in the region resulted in a detention.
