A bitter insurance battle over the tragic loss of the capesize bulker Alexandros T has reached a decisive point, with a London appeal court rejecting the owner’s claims.

The ruling appears to bring to an end an attempt to claim as much as $150m in damages from a long list of insurers over the way they handled the loss of the 171,000-dwt Alexandros T (built 1989), which broke up and sank off South Africa in 2006 with the loss of 26 crew.
