Indonesian energy company Pertamina is taking an early look at berth space for the LNG carriers it will need as the producing nation gears up for a new era of imports.

Industry sources say the state energy giant has indicated it may emerge as early as September with a tender for LNG newbuildings.

Details remain sketchy of what it may specify at present but those following the business suggest Pertamina may require around four vessels to ship the volumes the company recently signed up to buy from Cheniere Energy’s second US liquefaction project.
