The drift of international shipbrokers towards a disputed German system has once again focused attention on differing procedures in the valuation of vessels.

Alexander Geisler, managing director of the German Shipbrokers’ Association (VHSS), says its Long Term Asset Value (LTAV) model has become more international after teaming up with various overseas shops. A handful of brokers have joined the VHSS, including ICAP Shipping, CW Kellock and VesselsValue.com.
