India’s largest fertiliser co-operative has arrested a Greek supramax bulker in Gujarat province following a dispute over the “short landing” of a cargo.

According to Ahmedabad-based legal sources, Justice Shailesh R Brahmbhatt of Gujarat High Court ordered the arrest of the 53,800-dwt Nicolaos A (built 2003), owned by Piraeus-based Blue Planet Shipping, after New Delhi-based Indian Farmers Fertilisers Co-operative (Iffco) filed an affidavit claiming that the “mishandling or mismanagement” of the ship’s crew had resulted in the “short landing” of imported di-ammonium phosphate (DAP).
