Sources say the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard-built, 40,000-dwt Montenero (built 2006) has been sold to a US-based buyer for $18.1m. Last month, the owner circulated its 51,000-dwt tanker Calafuria (built 2010) for sale but said it was only testing the market.
With the Montenero sale, D’Alesio’s fleet has been cut to four medium-range (MR) tankers and a number of coastal tankers.
Director Gaetano D’Alesio said in July that the outfit is concentrating on products tankers tailor-made for Mediterranean trading and Italian cabotage business.
