The Sohmen family-controlled company is said to be paying $33.7m each for the 50,000-dwt tankers, which are scheduled for delivery from South Korea’s SPP Shipbuilding in 2015.
The price appears attractive, with VesselsValue.com estimating the pair at $36.5m apiece.
There has been confusion over who is buying the ships, with both Parakou of Hong Kong and Thenamaris of Greece also touted as likely buyers.
