Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto has just signed into law the long-awaited legislation for national energy reform, which ultimately paves the way for what could be a huge rise in demand for offshore support vessels (OSVs) in Mexico’s waters if the drive to increase oil production gains momentum as expected.

While OSVs are likely to benefit, the main goal of the reform is to bring in foreign investment from national oil companies (NOCs) and international oil companies (IOCs), which is meant to help reverse drastic falls in oil production.
