Siem Car Carriers logged a pre-tax loss of $3.8m in 2013 compared with a $2.4m deficit in 2012, while freight income increased from $66.3m to $71.3m.

Siem has kept ownership of his vessels outside Siem Car Carriers.

The fleet currently consists of just the 4,300-car-equivalent-unit (ceu) Verona and Dresden (both built 2000), although Siem’s car-shipping operation is set to grow.

Through his tonnage provider, Auto Marine Transport (AMT), Siem has ordered six 6,700-ceu ships at Samjin Shipbuilding Industries in China for delivery this year and in 2015.
